One of the most interesting towns in Connecticut is the Town of Mansfield.
The main event in this town is the University of Connecticut located in the village of Storrs. The main campus is beautifully designed, culturally diverse and located in a rural New England setting. Residents, travelers and tourists enjoy art, history, entertainment, fishing, camping and Division I College Athletics, all within this town.
Conveniently located a few miles East of Exit 68 off Interstate 84 between Hartford, Connecticut and Sturbridge, Massachusetts. Mansfield is a collection of small rural villages with a population of 24,232 (2006).
Activities
The Mansfield Recreation Center and Public Library are modern and the hub of activity for both residents and non-residents. The world famous Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts, The Benton Museum, the Connecticut State Museum of Natural History, The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry, School of Fine Arts and Division I College Athletic Events at the University of Connecticut provide an opportunity to learn, explore and enjoy the scenic town.
Joshua's Track provides an opportunity for walking, hiking and biking on its over 3,000 acres of land and trails. Mansfield Hollow State Park is a picturesque park for a picnic or a day of and boating and fishing.
After relaxing at the park during the day, one can enjoy shopping, dining and entertainment at the East Brook Mall, located just five miles South of the UCONN campus at the junction of Routes 195 & 6. Additional shopping can be found just 12 miles West of Interstate 84 heading toward Hartford, the State Capital of Connecticut, off exits 61,62 & 62 in Manchester.
Additional activities include a rare Mansfield Drive-In (3 screens) & a Flea Market which is advertised as the largest flea market in Eastern Connecticut along with a Movie Plex (8 theaters) provide many choices of things to do in Mansfield.
